Seasonal Maintenance Checklist for Electric Scooters

Keep Your Scooter in Top Shape

Regular maintenance prevents breakdowns, extends the life of components, and keeps you safe. Follow this seasonal checklist to stay ahead of problems.

Monthly Tasks

Check tyre pressure with a gauge and inflate to the recommended PSI. Low pressure reduces range and increases puncture risk.

Inspect brake pads for wear. Disc brake pads should have at least 1mm of material remaining. Drum brakes should engage firmly without the lever reaching the handlebar.

Clean the deck and body with a damp cloth. Avoid using a hose or pressure washer as water can enter electrical connections. Wipe down the display and controls.

Test all lights including headlight, tail light, and turn signals if equipped. Replace any dim or non-functioning bulbs.

Quarterly Tasks

Tighten all bolts and fasteners especially on the stem, folding mechanism, handlebars, and axle nuts. Vibration loosens fasteners over time and a loose stem hinge is a serious safety hazard.

Lubricate moving parts including the folding mechanism, kickstand pivot, and brake cable housings. Use a light machine oil or silicone-based lubricant.

Inspect the charging port for debris or corrosion. A dirty port can cause slow charging or connection issues. Clean gently with compressed air.

Check for firmware updates through your scooter's companion app. Updates often improve motor efficiency, braking response, and battery management.

Before Winter Storage

Charge the battery to 50 percent and store indoors at room temperature. Clean the scooter thoroughly and apply a thin layer of silicone spray on metal surfaces to prevent corrosion. Remove the battery if possible and store it separately.

Spring Revival

Fully charge the battery before your first ride. Re-check tyre pressure, brake function, and all bolts. Test ride at low speed in a safe area to make sure everything is working properly.

Pro Tip

Keep a maintenance log. Tracking when you last checked each item helps you stay consistent and spot patterns like recurring loose bolts that might indicate a deeper issue.
